What is the difference between a MINI Cooper saloon and the Cabrio?

The MINI Cooper saloon has a fixed steel roof, while the Cabrio has a fabric hood. The fixed roof gives a stiffer body, less wind noise and no risk of leaks through hood seals.

What are common problems on a used MINI Cooper saloon?

On petrol R56 cars the best-known weak point is the timing chain; on diesels the particulate filter suffers from short city trips. A main-dealer service record helps confirm both.

What documents should I ask for when buying a MINI Cooper in Spain?

Ask for the ficha técnica, the permiso de circulación and a current ITV, and check with the DGT that there are no liens. The transfer goes through the DGT, and a private sale pays ITP.
