Question 1

Is MG a British or a Chinese brand?

Accepted Answer

MG was founded in England in the 1920s and has belonged to China's SAIC Motor since 2007, which designs and builds today's range. Older British-era models such as the MGF and TF are enthusiasts' classics with their own parts supply.

Question 2

Does the MG factory warranty pass to the next owner?

Accepted Answer

The manufacturer's warranty is tied to the car, not the owner, so it continues after a sale until its time or mileage limit is reached. It depends on servicing having been done as MG specifies, so ask for the record and check the date of first registration.

Question 3

Which DGT label does a used MG carry?

Accepted Answer

Fully electric models such as the MG4 and ZS EV get the 0 label, as do plug-in hybrids with at least 40 km of electric range. The MG3 and ZS full hybrids get ECO, while petrol-only versions get C.

Question 4

What should I check on a used electric MG?

Accepted Answer

Ask for a battery state-of-health report from a dealer or a diagnostic tool, and check that the charging cable comes with the car. Test both AC and rapid DC charging if you can, since a charging fault is costly to discover later.
