Question 1

Does MG's warranty pass to the next owner of an MG HS?

Accepted Answer

MG's factory warranty runs for seven years or 150,000 km and stays with the car when it is sold, provided it has been serviced as the schedule requires. Check the first registration date and the service records to see how much cover is left.

Question 2

Which DGT label does an MG HS get?

Accepted Answer

Petrol HS models get the C label. The plug-in hybrid has enough electric range for CERO, and the Hybrid+ full hybrid of the second generation gets ECO; both give wider access to low-emission zones.

Question 3

What should I check on the MG HS dual-clutch gearbox?

Accepted Answer

On the test drive, pull away gently several times and creep along in slow traffic: the seven-speed dual-clutch should engage without jerks or hesitation. Ask whether software updates have been done at an MG workshop.

Question 4

Is the plug-in hybrid MG HS worth it?

Accepted Answer

It makes sense if you can charge at home or at work and mostly make short journeys on electric power; with a flat battery it uses more fuel than the petrol HS. Make sure the charging cable comes with the car and that charging works before you buy.
