Question 1

Which DGT label does a used Mercedes-Benz get?

Accepted Answer

It follows the fuel and registration date: petrol cars from 2006 and diesels from 2015 generally get the C label, older ones the B or none. Hybrids get ECO, while electric EQ models and plug-ins with at least 40 km of electric range get Zero.

Question 2

What does 4MATIC mean on a Mercedes-Benz?

Accepted Answer

4MATIC is the Mercedes-Benz name for all-wheel drive, offered on many saloons, estates and SUVs. It adds grip on wet or snowy roads but also weight, so fuel use and tyre costs run slightly higher.

Question 3

Who pays the transfer tax on a used Mercedes-Benz?

Accepted Answer

In a private sale the buyer pays the ITP, worked out on the higher of the price and the official value set by Hacienda, which stays high for a premium car. A dealer sale includes VAT instead and carries no ITP.

Question 4

How do I check a Mercedes-Benz service history?

Accepted Answer

Recent Mercedes-Benz cars keep a digital service record that any official workshop can read. Ask the seller for that printout as well as the stamps and invoices.
