Is every Mercedes GLB automatic?

Almost every GLB sold in Spain is automatic, with the 7G-DCT on the GLB 180 and 200 petrols and the 8G-DCT on diesels, the 250 and the AMG 35. Both are dual-clutch gearboxes, not torque converters.

Is the Mercedes GLB dual-clutch gearbox reliable?

It is generally sound, but hesitation or judder pulling away is the typical complaint, often cured by a software update. Ask for the service record and test it on a slope and in slow traffic.

Can a Mercedes GLB automatic tow a trailer?

Yes, with a factory or approved towbar recorded on the ficha técnica, which the ITV checks. Diesel 4MATIC versions are the strongest choice for towing a caravan or boat.

Nearly every GLB in Spain is an automatic, always a dual clutch: the seven-speed 7G-DCT in the GLB 180 and 200 petrols, the eight-speed 8G-DCT in the diesels, the GLB 250 and the AMG 35. With the car loaded, a tired clutch shows first as judder pulling away.
