Is a petrol Mercedes C-Class better than a diesel?

A petrol C-Class suits mostly urban and short-distance driving, where a diesel's particulate filter struggles, and it is quieter. A diesel still uses less fuel on long motorway runs.

Which DGT label does a petrol Mercedes C-Class get?

A petrol C-Class registered from 2006 meets Euro 4 or later and carries the C label. The C 200 with EQ Boost from the 2018 facelift and every W206 petrol are mild hybrids and get ECO.

What should I check on a petrol Mercedes C-Class W204?

On the W204's M271 four-cylinder, listen for a rattle at cold start, a known sign of timing-chain stretch. Ask whether the chain and tensioner have been replaced and check for regular oil changes.
