Question 1

Which gearbox does an automatic Maserati use?

Accepted Answer

Since 2013 the Ghibli, Quattroporte and later the Levante and Grecale use the ZF eight-speed automatic, a robust torque-converter unit also found in many German cars. The first GranTurismo used a ZF six-speed automatic, and some older models an automated manual. The MC20 has an eight-speed dual-clutch.

Question 2

Is a used automatic Maserati expensive to run in Spain?

Accepted Answer

It costs more than most premium cars: parts and servicing are dear, and big petrol V6 and V8 engines push up both fuel bills and the municipal IVTM, which rises with fiscal horsepower. The diesel Ghibli and Levante are cheaper to fuel. Mild-hybrid four-cylinder versions sit at the lower end.

Question 3

Which Maserati automatics get the ECO or CERO label?

Accepted Answer

The mild-hybrid four-cylinder Ghibli, Levante and Grecale carry the ECO label, and the all-electric Folgore models the CERO label. Petrol V6 and V8 cars from 2006 onwards get the C label, as do Euro 6 diesels. Older diesels usually get B.
