Is the DCT dual-clutch gearbox reliable on a used Kia?

Generally yes, but it prefers flowing traffic to constant crawling. On a test drive check that it pulls away smoothly, does not judder when reversing up a slope and shifts without hesitation.

Which used Kia automatics have a torque-converter gearbox?

The hybrid and plug-in hybrid Sorento and Sportage, and older 2.0 diesel Sportage models, use a conventional six-speed automatic. At walking pace it is smoother than a dual-clutch.

Does an automatic Kia get a better DGT label?

No; the label depends on fuel and emissions standard, not the gearbox. An automatic Kia hybrid gets ECO because it is a hybrid, while an automatic petrol or diesel gets the same label as its manual twin.
