Question 1

Are all Jeeps four-wheel drive?

Accepted Answer

No. Many Renegades and Compasses sold in Spain drive only the front wheels, and most Avengers are front-wheel drive too. Check the version: the 4x4, 4xe and Trailhawk models drive all four wheels.

Question 2

Which DGT label does a used Jeep 4xe carry?

Accepted Answer

The Renegade 4xe and Compass 4xe are plug-in hybrids, and plug-ins with enough electric range qualify for the Cero label, which eases access to low-emission zones. Confirm the label recorded for the specific car in the DGT records.

Question 3

What should I look for on a used Jeep Wrangler?

Accepted Answer

Look underneath for dents on the sills, skid plates and axles, and for corrosion where mud and water collect, since many Wranglers are taken off road. Check that the removable roof panels seal properly, and expect higher fuel use than in a road-going SUV.

Question 4

Does a used plug-in Jeep need special checks?

Accepted Answer

Ask for the charging cable and make sure the car charges from a socket before buying. The high-voltage battery has its own warranty, separate from the car's, so ask whether it is still in force.
