Question 1

Which DGT label does a Compass 4xe carry?

Accepted Answer

The 4xe plug-in hybrid qualifies for the zero-emission label, which opens low-emission zones and brings parking perks in many cities; the e-Hybrid gets ECO. Check the individual car's label with its plate on the DGT website.

Question 2

Do I need a four-wheel-drive Jeep Compass?

Accepted Answer

For roads and the occasional dirt track, front-wheel drive is enough and uses less fuel. The 4x4 diesels and the 4xe suit snowy mountain roads or unpaved access, and the Trailhawk is the best equipped for rough ground.

Question 3

What should I check on a Compass 4xe?

Accepted Answer

Ask for confirmation of the battery's health, test charging with the supplied cable and make sure it switches cleanly between electric and petrol. If it is rarely charged, consumption rises noticeably because it carries the battery's weight.

Question 4

Should I buy a first- or second-generation Jeep Compass?

Accepted Answer

The second, from 2017, is better built and more modern in its equipment. The first is cheaper but feels considerably older inside and underneath.
