Question 1

What should I feel for when test-driving a Hyundai dual-clutch?

Accepted Answer

Pull away gently several times and creep along as you would in a queue: the car should move off smoothly, without judder or a delay before it bites. Hesitation or jerky low-speed shifts can point to worn clutches or a gearbox that needs a software update.

Question 2

Which DGT label do automatic Hyundais carry?

Accepted Answer

The engine decides it, not the gearbox. Petrol models get C or B depending on age, the hybrids carry ECO, and the electric Kona and Ioniq models get CERO.

Question 3

Does the Hyundai warranty pass to a second owner?

Accepted Answer

Hyundai's five-year, unlimited-mileage factory warranty in Europe stays with the car when it changes hands, as long as it has been serviced to the maintenance plan. Ask for the stamped service book or the dealer's printout.

Question 4

Is an electric Hyundai cheaper to tax?

Accepted Answer

Many Spanish municipalities discount the IVTM road tax for electric cars, and the law lets them cut it by up to 75 per cent. The rate depends on where the car is registered, so check that town hall's tax ordinance.
