Question 1

Which DGT label does a Hyundai Kona carry?

Accepted Answer

It depends on the powertrain. Petrol versions usually carry the C label, hybrids the ECO label and the Kona Electric the 0 label, which gives the widest access to low-emission zones and a reduced IVTM in many municipalities.

Question 2

What should I check on a used Kona Electric?

Accepted Answer

Ask for a battery state-of-health report and have a Hyundai workshop confirm that any recall campaign affecting the battery has been completed. Also check which onboard charger the car has, as it sets how fast it charges at home.

Question 3

Does the Kona Electric battery warranty pass to a new owner?

Accepted Answer

Hyundai's battery warranty belongs to the car rather than the owner, so it passes with the sale while it is within its time and mileage limits. The first registration date and the service record show how much cover is left.

Question 4

Do I pay ITP when buying a Kona in Spain?

Accepted Answer

A private sale pays ITP, the transfer tax whose rate each autonomous community sets, while a purchase from a dealer does not, as that sale is taxed under VAT instead. Either way the change of ownership is registered with the DGT.
