Question 1

Which DGT label does a used hybrid get?

Accepted Answer

Full and mild hybrids get ECO. A plug-in hybrid with at least 40 km of electric range gets CERO, and one with less gets ECO.

Question 2

How do I check a hybrid battery?

Accepted Answer

Ask a franchised workshop for a state-of-health report on the battery. On a plug-in, a drive on a full charge shows how much electric range is left.

Question 3

Is an ex-taxi hybrid worth buying?

Accepted Answer

Toyota hybrids are common as taxis in Spain and reach very high mileages, with the drivetrain and battery usually holding up well. Check the interior, the service record and, in the DGT vehicle report, that its use has been changed to private.

Question 4

Do I have to charge a plug-in hybrid?

Accepted Answer

It runs without charging, but then carries the battery's weight and uses more fuel. It makes sense where you can charge at home or at work.

Question 5

What is the difference between a mild and a full hybrid?

Accepted Answer

A mild hybrid assists the engine with a small electric motor but cannot drive on electricity alone. A full hybrid can cover short distances electrically; both carry the ECO label.
