Question 1

What is the difference between the Fiat 500 and the 500e?

Accepted Answer

The petrol 500 of 2007 shares little with the electric 500e of 2020, which is slightly larger and sits on its own platform. The 500e carries the CERO label and charges at home or on public points; check its battery health and charging cable before you buy.

Question 2

Is the Fiat 500 Dualogic gearbox reliable?

Accepted Answer

Dualogic is an automated manual rather than a true automatic, and it changes gear with a noticeable pause. Its hydraulic unit and clutch can wear, so on the test drive make sure it shifts cleanly and shows no warning light. A manual 500 is the simpler buy.

Question 3

What should I check on a used Fiat 500C?

Accepted Answer

The 500C keeps the car's sides and slides a fabric roof back towards the rear. Open and close it fully, look for tears or fading, and check the floor and boot for signs of water getting in.

Question 4

Which DGT label does a used Fiat 500 have?

Accepted Answer

Every petrol 500 since 2007 gets at least the C label, while the 1.3 diesel gets only B unless it meets Euro 6. The 2020 mild hybrid with its 1.0 engine carries ECO and the electric 500e carries CERO.
