Question 1

How do I check the battery of a used electric car?

Accepted Answer

Ask the seller for a state-of-health (SoH) report or have one read with a diagnostic tool; it shows how much of its original capacity the battery keeps. A range test on a full charge is a useful second check, allowing for temperature and driving style.

Question 2

Do electric cars pay the IVTM in Spain?

Accepted Answer

Yes, but councils can cut it by up to 75% for electric cars, and many do. The discount depends on the municipality where the car is registered, so check the local tax ordinance.

Question 3

Can I install an electric car charger in a shared garage?

Accepted Answer

Yes. In a building under horizontal property, an owner only has to notify the community beforehand to install a charging point at their own space, and pays for the installation and the electricity.

Question 4

What is a leased battery on a used electric car?

Accepted Answer

Some early electric cars, such as certain Renault and Smart models, were sold with the battery rented separately. Confirm whether the battery is included in the sale or whether the rental contract has to be taken over.
