Question 1

Is a DS Automobiles car just a rebadged Citroën?

Accepted Answer

DS began as Citroën's premium line, and the first DS3, DS4 and DS5 wore Citroën badges before DS became a brand of its own in the mid-2010s. Engines and platforms are shared with Citroën and Peugeot, which keeps parts easy to find, while trim, equipment and styling are DS's own.

Question 2

What should I check on a DS Automobiles car with the 1.2 PureTech engine?

Accepted Answer

The 1.2 PureTech's timing belt runs in oil and can wear early, shedding debris into the lubrication system. Ask for proof of when it was inspected or replaced, and whether the oil was changed at short intervals.

Question 3

Which DGT label does a used DS Automobiles car carry?

Accepted Answer

Euro 4 and later petrols and Euro 6 diesels get the C label, while Euro 4 and 5 diesels get B. E-Tense plug-in hybrids with at least 40 km of electric range, and the electric DS 3 E-Tense, get the zero-emissions label.

Question 4

Is a diesel DS Automobiles car a good choice?

Accepted Answer

BlueHDi diesels are frugal over long motorway runs, but their AdBlue tank and pump are a known weak point on Stellantis models. Short urban trips also load the particulate filter, so a petrol or an E-Tense often suits city driving better.
