Question 1

Is a Cupra Leon the same as a SEAT Leon Cupra?

Accepted Answer

Not quite. Until 2020 the sporty Leon was a SEAT carrying Cupra badges; since then Cupra has sold the fourth-generation Leon under its own brand. Both are built in Martorell, near Barcelona.

Question 2

What should I check on a powerful Cupra Leon?

Accepted Answer

Ask whether the engine has been remapped or the exhaust changed, since modifications affect insurance and must pass the ITV. Inspect the brake discs and tyres for signs of hard use, and make sure the DSG gearbox oil has been changed on schedule.

Question 3

Which DGT label does a Cupra Leon e-Hybrid carry?

Accepted Answer

The plug-in e-Hybrid has enough electric range to earn the DGT Cero label, which opens low-emission zones and brings parking discounts in some cities. Petrol-only versions carry the C label.

Question 4

Can a Cupra Leon have four-wheel drive?

Accepted Answer

Some high-powered Sportstourer estates were built with 4Drive all-wheel drive, which helps put the power down on wet roads. Confirm it on the specification rather than relying on badges.
