Question 1

Can I carry passengers in the back of a C4 van?

Accepted Answer

Not legally while it is registered as a two-seat commercial vehicle. Fitting rear seats and changing the category is a modification that must be approved at the ITV and recorded on the technical sheet.

Question 2

How often does a C4 van go to the ITV?

Accepted Answer

Light commercial vehicles follow a stricter ITV schedule than passenger cars, with inspections becoming more frequent as the van ages. The sticker on the windscreen shows when the next one is due.

Question 3

Which DGT label does a diesel C4 van carry?

Accepted Answer

It depends on the Euro emissions standard it was approved to: the newest diesels get the C label, earlier ones the B label, and the oldest may have none. Without a label, access to low-emission zones such as those in Madrid and Barcelona is restricted.

Question 4

Is the IVTM different for a C4 van?

Accepted Answer

It can be: town halls often tax commercial vehicles by payload rather than by fiscal horsepower, so the yearly amount differs from that of a C4 registered as a passenger car. The town hall where the van is registered can confirm the figure.
