Question 1

Which Citroen C4 engines need the most care?

Accepted Answer

The 1.2 PureTech petrol uses a timing belt that runs in oil, and on early engines it could wear prematurely. Ask for invoices showing the belt was inspected or replaced and that the oil Citroën specifies was used.

Question 2

What DGT label does a used Citroen C4 get?

Accepted Answer

It depends on fuel and emissions standard: the electric ë-C4 carries the Cero label, recent petrols and Euro 6 diesels the C label. An older diesel often gets only the B label, which restricts access to some low-emission zones.

Question 3

Is an electric Citroën C4 (ë-C4) a good used buy?

Accepted Answer

It suits drivers who can charge at home or at work, since running costs are low and the Cero label opens low-emission zones. Ask the seller for a battery state-of-health reading and check that the charging cable is included.

Question 4

How do I transfer a Citroën C4 bought from a private seller?

Accepted Answer

The change of ownership is filed with the DGT, and the buyer pays ITP, the regional transfer tax. A dealer sale carries no ITP, and the dealer usually handles the paperwork.
