Question 1

Does it matter whether a Berlingo is registered as a van?

Accepted Answer

Yes. A Berlingo registered as a goods vehicle follows a different ITV schedule from a passenger car and may have fewer seats or blanked rear windows. Changing its category is a modification that has to be approved at the ITV.

Question 2

What should I know about the electric ë-Berlingo?

Accepted Answer

It has been sold since 2021 in passenger and van form and carries the DGT zero-emission label, which eases access to low-emission zones. Ask for a battery health report, since the range a used car still offers depends on it.

Question 3

What should I check on a Citroën Berlingo BlueHDi diesel?

Accepted Answer

BlueHDi engines use AdBlue to clean their exhaust, and faults in the AdBlue tank and pump are a known weak point. A warning for that system should be diagnosed before you buy, as the engine will not restart once its countdown runs out.

Question 4

Which Berlingo has seven seats?

Accepted Answer

The long XL body of the third generation, sold since 2018, is the version built around seven seats. For any car, the Spanish technical data card, the ficha técnica, records the approved number of seats.
