Question 1

Which Audis can drive freely in Madrid's low-emission zones?

Accepted Answer

Fully electric e-tron models carry the zero-emission (CERO) label, and plug-in hybrids get CERO or ECO depending on their electric range. Petrol and diesel Audis usually have a B or C label, or none if old enough, and the restrictions tighten as the label gets lower.

Question 2

Can I service a used Audi outside the official network?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Audi shares engines, gearboxes and many parts with Volkswagen, SEAT and Škoda, so independent garages across Madrid work on them. Keep the stamped service book or digital record, which supports the resale value.

Question 3

When does a used Audi need its ITV?

Accepted Answer

A car's first ITV inspection is due at four years old, then every two years until it is ten, and every year after that. Before buying, check the date on the windscreen sticker and read the latest report.

Question 4

Should I buy from a dealer or a private seller in Madrid?

Accepted Answer

Buying from a dealer includes VAT in the price, avoids ITP and brings a legal guarantee of at least one year. A private sale is subject to ITP, paid by the buyer to the Comunidad de Madrid, and the transfer is registered with the DGT.
