Question 1

Which DGT label does a diesel Audi A6 get?

Accepted Answer

It follows the Euro standard and the registration date. Diesels registered from 2014 under Euro 6 carry the C label, those from 2006 to 2013 the B label, and the plug-in TFSI e versions usually the 0 label.

Question 2

What should I check on an Audi A6's gearbox?

Accepted Answer

The A6 has used manual, S tronic dual-clutch, tiptronic automatic and, on older front-wheel-drive models, multitronic transmissions. Ask when the gearbox oil was last changed and feel for jerky low-speed shifts on the test drive, particularly on dual-clutch and multitronic cars.

Question 3

Is quattro worth having on an Audi A6 in Spain?

Accepted Answer

On dry Mediterranean roads front-wheel drive is enough for most drivers, but quattro helps on wet northern roads, mountain passes and when towing. It adds weight and some running cost, so weigh it against where you drive.

Question 4

Does engine size affect the IVTM on an Audi A6?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Each town hall sets the IVTM on bands of fiscal horsepower, so a V6 pays more than a four-cylinder TDI in the same municipality. Some councils also reduce it for plug-in hybrids.
