Question 1

Audi A5 Coupé, Sportback or Cabriolet: which should I choose?

Accepted Answer

The Sportback adds two rear doors and a large tailgate, which makes it the most practical everyday choice. The Coupé has long doors and tighter rear access, while the Cabriolet gives up some boot space for its folding roof.

Question 2

What should I check on an Audi A5 Cabriolet?

Accepted Answer

Open and close the fabric roof several times and watch that it moves smoothly and locks properly. Look for damp in the footwells and boot, and check the condition of the fabric and seals, since repairs to the mechanism are expensive.

Question 3

Does the Audi A5 share the A4's weak points?

Accepted Answer

Yes, because the mechanicals are largely the same. TFSI petrols from the late 2000s can burn oil, TDI particulate filters dislike short trips, and some front-wheel-drive automatics of the first generation use the multitronic gearbox, which deserves a careful test.

Question 4

Which DGT label does a used Audi A5 get?

Accepted Answer

Petrol A5s generally qualify for the C label, and a diesel needs Euro 6 to reach C; earlier diesels get B. That label decides whether the car may enter low-emission zones in the cities that enforce them.
