Question 1

Which Volvo SUV has seven seats?

Accepted Answer

The XC90 is the only one with a third row, which suits children better than adults on long trips. The XC40 and XC60 seat five.

Question 2

Is all-wheel drive worth having on a Volvo SUV?

Accepted Answer

It helps on wet mountain roads and dirt tracks, but it raises fuel use and running costs. For mainly urban and motorway driving in Portugal, a front-wheel-drive version is usually enough.

Question 3

What should I check on a plug-in hybrid Volvo XC60 or XC90?

Accepted Answer

Check that the charging cable is included, how far the car goes on electricity with a full battery and that the hybrid system shows no warnings. A plug-in that is never charged carries a heavy battery and uses more fuel than a comparable mild-hybrid.

Question 4

Do electric Volvo SUVs pay IUC?

Accepted Answer

No: fully electric cars are exempt from the annual IUC in Portugal. With a used EX30, EX40 or XC40 Recharge, ask for a battery health report and check whether Volvo's high-voltage battery warranty is still running.
