Question 1

Which Toyota estate should I look at?

Accepted Answer

The Corolla Touring Sports is the current one and the most modern, with hybrid power. The Auris Touring Sports is its predecessor and cheaper, while the Avensis is larger and roomier for long distances.

Question 2

Hybrid or diesel estate?

Accepted Answer

The hybrid suits mixed and urban driving and pays less IUC thanks to low CO2. A diesel Avensis or Auris makes sense mainly for long motorway runs, and pays the additional IUC charge on diesel cars.

Question 3

Should I avoid a Toyota estate that was a taxi or TVDE car?

Accepted Answer

Not necessarily, but expect high mileage and wear to the interior, suspension and brakes. Ask for the service history and ask the seller plainly how the car was used.

Question 4

Is the hybrid battery a concern on a high-mileage estate?

Accepted Answer

Toyota hybrid batteries have a good reputation for durability, but a hybrid health check at a Toyota workshop gives a clear answer. Cars serviced in the official network may still carry extended battery cover.
