Question 1

Can I drive an older SEAT into central Lisbon?

Accepted Answer

Lisbon has a low-emission zone covering parts of the centre, including the Baixa and Avenida da Liberdade, where older cars face restrictions. Check the current rules against the car's registration date if you will drive there regularly.

Question 2

Is a DSG SEAT a good choice for Lisbon traffic?

Accepted Answer

The seven-speed dry-clutch DSG fitted to many smaller engines can be jerky at walking pace in stop-start traffic. Test it in slow traffic and on a hill start, and ask for records of gearbox servicing.

Question 3

What is the difference between SEAT and Cupra?

Accepted Answer

Cupra was SEAT's performance badge until 2018, when it became a brand of its own. An older sporty Leon may wear either name, but underneath it is the same SEAT and Volkswagen group engineering.

Question 4

Is a diesel SEAT sensible for city driving?

Accepted Answer

TDI diesels suit motorway commuting, but repeated short trips in town keep the particulate filter from regenerating and can clog it. For mostly urban use, a TSI petrol is usually the simpler choice.
