Question 1

Porsche Cayenne or Macan: which to choose?

Accepted Answer

The Cayenne is larger, with more rear space and boot, and tows up to 3.5 tonnes, enough for a horse trailer or a boat. The Macan is lighter, drives more like a hatchback and is easier to park in old town centres.

Question 2

What should I check on a Porsche Cayenne with air suspension?

Accepted Answer

Leave the car parked overnight and see whether a corner has sagged, then check it raises and lowers through every level. Leaking air springs and a tired compressor are common repairs on older cars.

Question 3

Were the diesel Porsche Cayenne and Macan recalled?

Accepted Answer

Diesel Cayenne and Macan V6 models were subject to emissions-related recalls in Europe. Ask for proof the update was done at a Porsche centre, or check it against the VIN.

Question 4

How much IUC does a Porsche SUV pay?

Accepted Answer

Cars first registered from July 2007 are taxed on engine size and CO2, so a V8 Cayenne sits in the highest bands while an E-Hybrid pays noticeably less. The electric Macan pays no IUC at all.
