Question 1

What does an AdBlue warning mean on a Peugeot BlueHDi?

Accepted Answer

BlueHDi diesels inject AdBlue to cut nitrogen oxide emissions, and a fault in the tank, pump or heater stops the engine restarting once a countdown on the dashboard runs out. Ask whether the AdBlue system has been repaired and make sure no warning shows on a test drive.

Question 2

Is a Peugeot Rifter or Partner the better family car?

Accepted Answer

The Rifter is the passenger version, with rear seats, side windows and sliding doors, while the Partner is built mainly as a van. Check whether the certificate of registration lists a passenger car or a goods vehicle, since that decides how many seats it may legally carry and how it is taxed.

Question 3

Peugeot 308 SW or 3008 for a family?

Accepted Answer

The 308 SW estate sits lower and has a long boot, while the 3008 rides higher and is easier to get in and out of. Both share engines and the i-Cockpit layout, so the choice comes down to space and driving position more than mechanics.

Question 4

What should I know about the Peugeot EAT8 automatic?

Accepted Answer

Many recent 308, 3008, 5008 and 508 models use the EAT8 eight-speed automatic. It should change smoothly and without jolts from cold, and on a high-mileage car it is worth asking whether its fluid has ever been changed.
