Question 1

What should I check on a Peugeot 1.2 PureTech engine?

Accepted Answer

On the 1.2 PureTech the timing belt runs in engine oil and can deteriorate, so ask for proof that it was changed at the interval Peugeot sets and with the correct oil. An oil pressure warning or a message about brake assistance can be signs of a worn belt.

Question 2

Is an electric Peugeot practical in Lisbon?

Accepted Answer

The e-208 and e-2008 suit city driving, and Lisbon has many public charging points on the national MOBI.E network. Electric cars are exempt from IUC, and the original battery carries its own manufacturer warranty that runs longer than the car's, so check how much of it remains.

Question 3

What is the Peugeot i-Cockpit?

Accepted Answer

Since the 208 of 2012, most Peugeot models have a small steering wheel with the instruments read over it rather than through it. Some drivers love it and some cannot see the dials from their seating position, so try it on a test drive before buying.

Question 4

Should I buy a used Peugeot from a dealer or a private seller in Lisbon?

Accepted Answer

A dealer must give a legal guarantee on a used car and usually handles the registration at the Registo Automóvel. A private sale can be cheaper but carries no guarantee, so check the registration record first for a retention of title or a seizure against the car.
