Question 1

What is the weak point of the Peugeot 1.2 PureTech?

Accepted Answer

The three-cylinder's timing belt runs in engine oil and can deteriorate early, shedding debris that blocks the oil pump pickup. Ask for an invoice showing the belt was changed and whether the car was serviced with the specified oil.

Question 2

Diesel or petrol for driving around Leiria?

Accepted Answer

If you commute daily on the A1 or A8 towards Lisbon or Coimbra, a BlueHDi diesel is economical. For short town trips a PureTech petrol or an electric e-208 is the better choice, since a diesel's particulate filter needs longer runs to regenerate.

Question 3

How do I transfer ownership of a Peugeot bought privately?

Accepted Answer

The change of owner is recorded at the Registo Automóvel, at a counter or online through Automóvel Online, and both buyer and seller must confirm it. Before paying, check that no IUC is owed and that the IPO inspection is still valid.

Question 4

What should I check on a used Peugeot Partner van?

Accepted Answer

Many Partners worked for trades and industry in the region, often with high mileage and heavy loads. One registered as a light goods vehicle (ligeiro de mercadorias) goes to the IPO more often than a passenger car, and the registration certificate shows which it is.
