Can I buy a foreign-plated Mercedes in the Algarve?

Only once it has been legalised in Portugal, with ISV paid and Portuguese plates issued. Until then it cannot be registered in your name at the Registo Automóvel, so check its status before paying.

Is it worth bringing a Mercedes from Spain to the Algarve?

Rarely, because the ISV due on import, especially on a diesel or a large engine, usually wipes out the price difference. Electric Mercedes are the exception, as they pay no ISV.

What should I check on a used Mercedes in Faro?

Look at the roof and bonnet paint, the exterior seals and plastics and the underside, all of which suffer from sun and salt air. On a convertible, check the roof as well.
