Question 1

Is the Hyundai warranty still valid on a used i20?

Accepted Answer

Hyundai's warranty belongs to the car rather than the first owner, so a young i20 can still be covered. Check the date of first registration and that the services were done on time, as the warranty depends on them.

Question 2

What should I check on the Hyundai i20's DCT automatic?

Accepted Answer

The seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox should pull away smoothly without judder or delay. Hesitation from standstill or jerky low-speed shifts point to clutch wear, which is costly to fix.

Question 3

Is a used i20 N a sensible buy?

Accepted Answer

It can be, but many have been driven on track or hard on mountain roads. Look for even tyre wear, check the brakes and clutch, and make sure any modifications are approved, since unapproved changes can fail the IPO.

Question 4

Is the i20 cheap to run in Portugal?

Accepted Answer

Its small engines keep the IUC modest, since for cars registered since July 2007 the tax depends on engine size and CO2 emissions. Parts and servicing are easy to find through the Hyundai network.
