Question 1

Is the Volkswagen T-Roc made in Portugal?

Accepted Answer

Yes, the European T-Roc is built at the Autoeuropa plant in Palmela, across the Tagus from Lisbon. The T-Roc Cabriolet was the exception, built in Osnabrück in Germany.

Question 2

Should I choose a petrol or a diesel T-Roc?

Accepted Answer

A TSI petrol suits shorter and mostly urban journeys, while a TDI diesel pays back on long motorway distances. In Portugal diesel cars also pay an additional IUC component, so their annual road tax is usually higher.

Question 3

What should I check on a T-Roc with a DSG gearbox?

Accepted Answer

Drive it slowly in traffic and pull away gently several times, feeling for jerks or hesitation. Ask for the gearbox's service record and whether it was maintained as Volkswagen specifies for that version.

Question 4

Is there an all-wheel drive T-Roc?

Accepted Answer

Yes, 4MOTION all-wheel drive was offered with some of the more powerful engines and is standard on the T-Roc R. Most used T-Rocs are front-wheel drive, though.
