Question 1

What do Porto's cobbles do to an Audi?

Accepted Answer

S line and sports suspension with large wheels pass on every granite sett, and over time wear bushes, top mounts and anti-roll bar links. Drive the car over rough paving, listen for knocks, and check the wheels for cracks or dents.

Question 2

Is quattro worth having around Porto?

Accepted Answer

In the city front-wheel drive is enough. Quattro earns its keep on steep, wet roads into the Douro valley or the hills inland in winter, but it adds weight and a little fuel consumption.

Question 3

What should I check on an Audi kept near the sea?

Accepted Answer

Salt air on the coast speeds up corrosion on brake discs, exhaust parts and the underbody. Look underneath, check the door bottoms and the boot floor, and ask where the car was parked.

Question 4

Was this Audi TDI part of the emissions recall?

Accepted Answer

Many 1.2, 1.6 and 2.0 TDI engines of the EA189 family, built from about 2008 to 2015, received a software update under the recall. Any Audi dealer can check from the chassis number whether it was carried out.
