Question 1

Is every Audi e-tron fully electric?

Accepted Answer

No. The e-tron SUV, Q4 e-tron, Q8 e-tron and e-tron GT are battery-electric, but the earlier A3 Sportback e-tron is a plug-in hybrid. Audi's later plug-in hybrids are badged TFSI e instead.

Question 2

What is the difference between the Audi e-tron and the Q8 e-tron?

Accepted Answer

They are the same large electric SUV: Audi renamed the e-tron Q8 e-tron when it updated the model. The update also revised the battery, so the version matters when comparing range.

Question 3

How do I check the battery of a used electric Audi?

Accepted Answer

Ask an Audi workshop or an independent diagnostic for a state-of-health reading of the high-voltage battery. Compare the range on a full charge with the figure for that version when new, allowing for cold weather and motorway speeds.

Question 4

Does an electric Audi pay road tax in Portugal?

Accepted Answer

No. Battery-electric cars are exempt from IUC, the annual road tax, and from ISV when first registered or imported. The periodic IPO inspection applies as to any other car.

Question 5

Where can I charge an electric Audi in Portugal?

Accepted Answer

A wallbox at home is close to essential, since the larger batteries take a very long time on a household socket. Away from home, the public Mobi.E network covers the country, reached with a card or app from an electricity provider.
