Question 1

What battery warranty does a used Volkswagen ID. have?

Accepted Answer

Volkswagen warrants the high-voltage battery of its ID. models for eight years or 160,000 km against losing more than 30% of its usable capacity. The cover belongs to the car, so it passes to the next owner.

Question 2

Why does the software version matter on a Volkswagen ID.3 or ID.4?

Accepted Answer

Early ID. cars were delivered with software that Volkswagen later reworked, improving infotainment, charging and driver assistance. Ask whether the updates have been installed, at a dealer or over the air.

Question 3

Is a heat pump worth looking for on a Volkswagen ID.?

Accepted Answer

It was an option on the ID. models and helps hold range in cold weather by heating the cabin more efficiently than a resistive heater. The car's equipment list or a Volkswagen dealer can confirm whether one is fitted.

Question 4

How do the Volkswagen e-Golf and e-up! compare with the ID. models?

Accepted Answer

They are electric versions of combustion cars, with smaller batteries and shorter range than the ID. models. They suit town use and short commutes, and like any electric car they get the green Crit'Air sticker.
