Question 1

How much does a carte grise cost in the Vaucluse?

Accepted Answer

The price is the car's fiscal horsepower multiplied by a rate set by the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region, plus fixed fees. The application is made online through the ANTS, either by you or by a dealer authorised to do it.

Question 2

Does a seller in the Vaucluse have to provide a contrôle technique?

Accepted Answer

Yes, for any car over four years old: the report must be less than six months old on the day of sale. If the inspection found major defects, ask to see the follow-up visit that confirmed they were repaired.

Question 3

What should I check on a car that has lived in the Vaucluse?

Accepted Answer

Sun and heat age rubber seals, plastics, tyres and batteries faster, so look closely at all of them. Test the air conditioning on a warm day, and on a car that has often climbed Mont Ventoux or the Luberon roads, pay attention to the brakes and clutch.

Question 4

Should I buy from a dealer or a private seller in the Vaucluse?

Accepted Answer

A professional seller owes you the legal guarantee of conformity, which covers faults present at delivery. A private sale only gives recourse for hidden defects, which are harder to prove, so a privately sold car deserves a closer inspection.

Question 5

Do I need a Crit'Air sticker in the Vaucluse?

Accepted Answer

The Crit'Air sticker decides access to low-emission zones and to driving restrictions during pollution episodes, which in Provence are often summer ozone peaks. Order it from the official website and check the rules of any city you drive into.
