Question 1

Which Clio generation should I look at?

Accepted Answer

The Clio IV, sold from 2012, and the Clio V, from 2019, are the recent generations, with turbo petrol engines and modern safety equipment. The Clio III and earlier cost less but carry weaker Crit'Air ratings, which limits them in low-emission zones.

Question 2

Is the Clio E-Tech worth it over a petrol?

Accepted Answer

The E-Tech full hybrid, offered from 2020 on the Clio V, shines in town traffic, where it runs on electric power at low speeds, and never needs charging. On long motorway runs the gap to a TCe petrol narrows.

Question 3

What does a Clio LPG version involve?

Accepted Answer

The bi-fuel Clio runs on either LPG or petrol, switching automatically, with an extra tank for the gas. It earns Crit'Air 1, and LPG costs less than petrol at the pump, though not every filling station sells it.

Question 4

Which Crit'Air sticker does an older Clio diesel get?

Accepted Answer

A Euro 5 or Euro 6 dCi gets Crit'Air 2, and a Euro 4 diesel from roughly 2006 to 2010 gets Crit'Air 3. In low-emission zones that restrict older diesels, the sticker decides where the car may be driven.
