Which diesel engine is best in the Mercedes A-Class?

The 2.0-litre in the W177 A 200 d and A 220 d is smoother and pairs with the eight-speed 8G-DCT. The 1.5-litre A 180 d is the most frugal and suits steady, gentle driving.

Does a diesel Mercedes A-Class need AdBlue?

W177 diesels use AdBlue to reduce nitrogen oxides, from a tank topped up separately from the fuel. Any dashboard warning about the AdBlue system should be resolved before you buy.

Which Crit'Air sticker does a diesel Mercedes A-Class get?

A W176 or W177 diesel meets Euro 5 or Euro 6 and gets Crit'Air 2, while an older W169 diesel gets a higher class. Crit'Air 2 is allowed in French low-emission zones today but is the next class the strictest plan to restrict, so check the rules where you drive.
