Question 1

Can I still have a Dodge serviced in France?

Accepted Answer

Dodge no longer has its own dealer network in France, so servicing goes through independent garages and American-car specialists. The 2.0 diesel in the Caliber and Journey came from Volkswagen, which makes its parts easy to find.

Question 2

What should I check before buying a Dodge imported from the United States?

Accepted Answer

Make sure the car has already been homologated and registered in France, with a carte grise in the seller's name. If it has not, it will need individual type approval before it can be registered, which takes time and money.

Question 3

Does a V8 Dodge pay extra at registration?

Accepted Answer

A car registered for the first time in France may be subject to the malus écologique, which weighs heavily on high-CO2 engines. A car already registered in France does not pay it again on a change of owner.

Question 4

Can a Dodge enter low-emission zones?

Accepted Answer

Access depends on the Crit'Air sticker, which follows the car's emission standard and date of first registration. If you drive into a ZFE such as Paris or Lyon, check the class before you buy.
