Question 1

What should I check on a Citroën C4 with the 1.2 PureTech engine?

Accepted Answer

Its timing belt runs in engine oil and can wear early, shedding debris that affects lubrication. Ask for proof that the belt has been inspected or replaced on Citroën's revised schedule, and that the specified oil has been used.

Question 2

Which Crit'Air sticker does a Citroën C4 get?

Accepted Answer

It depends on the fuel and the Euro standard shown on the carte grise. The electric ë-C4 gets the green sticker reserved for electric cars, recent petrol versions Crit'Air 1, and diesels Crit'Air 2 at best.

Question 3

Is the Citroën C4 the same car as the C4 Picasso?

Accepted Answer

No. The C4 Picasso, later renamed C4 SpaceTourer, is a separate people carrier, and the C4 Cactus is a different model again. Check the exact model on the carte grise before comparing prices.

Question 4

What paperwork comes with a used Citroën C4 in France?

Accepted Answer

The seller hands over the carte grise, crossed out and signed, and a declaration of transfer. A car over four years old must also come with a contrôle technique less than six months old.
