Question 1

Where is the widest choice of used cars in Indre-et-Loire?

Accepted Answer

Tours and its neighbouring towns, such as Joué-lès-Tours, hold most of the department's dealers. Amboise, Chinon and Loches have local garages and private sellers, though buyers from the south of the department often still make the trip to Tours.

Question 2

Is high motorway mileage a problem on a car from Indre-et-Loire?

Accepted Answer

Not in itself: steady driving on the A10 or A85 wears the engine and gearbox less than short town trips. Check that the service intervals were kept, look at the tyres and windscreen, and on a diesel ask about the particulate filter.

Question 3

How is the carte grise priced in Indre-et-Loire?

Accepted Answer

Most of the cost is the regional tax, charged per fiscal horsepower at a rate set by the Centre-Val de Loire region. Anyone registering a car in Indre-et-Loire pays that rate, whichever region the car comes from.

Question 4

Do I need a Crit'Air sticker in Indre-et-Loire?

Accepted Answer

The sticker follows the car's fuel and Euro standard and is ordered from the official Crit'Air website. It matters when driving into cities with a low-emission zone, so check the rules of any city you visit regularly, such as Paris.
