Should I avoid the multitronic gearbox on an Audi A5?

The multitronic CVT fitted to front-wheel-drive first-generation A5s is known for costly failures, often shown by judder or slipping when pulling away. Buy one only with proof of recent gearbox servicing, or prefer an S tronic or tiptronic car.

Which gearbox does the second-generation Audi A5 have?

The A5 launched in 2016 uses the seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch with four-cylinder engines and an eight-speed tiptronic with the V6 TDI and the S5. The multitronic was dropped.

What is the difference between the Audi A5 Coupé, Sportback and Cabriolet?

The Coupé has two doors, the Sportback four doors and a large tailgate, and the Cabriolet a fabric roof. The Sportback is the most practical for a family, with more rear space and a wider opening to the boot.
