Which is the best Smart fortwo petrol engine?

What problems does the petrol Smart fortwo 451 have?

The points to watch are the clutch actuator on the automated gearbox and oil consumption on high-mileage engines. Trouble engaging gears or a lit warning light calls for a diagnostic before buying.

Is the petrol Smart fortwo economical on the motorway?

It is frugal in town, but on the motorway it uses more fuel than you would expect from such a small car. Its tall, short shape penalises it at higher speeds.
