Was the SEAT León 1.6 TDI affected by the emissions scandal?

Early Mk3 Leóns with the EA189 engine, 1.6 or 2.0 TDI, were recalled for an update. Check with a SEAT dealer, using the chassis number, that the work was done.

Does the SEAT León TDI need AdBlue?

The Mk4 2.0 TDI uses AdBlue, from its own tank that needs topping up every several thousand kilometres. Ignoring the low-level warning will eventually stop the engine from starting.

Is a diesel SEAT León worth it for little open-road driving?

Rarely: the particulate filter needs long runs to regenerate and tends to clog with town-only use. For the city, a León TSI or eTSI is usually the more sensible choice.
