Question 1

What changed with the 2017 Ibiza?

Accepted Answer

It moved to the MQB A0 platform shared with the Volkswagen Polo, grew roomier inside and became five-door only. The three-door SC and the ST estate ended with the previous generation.

Question 2

Is there a diesel Ibiza?

Accepted Answer

The previous generation had TDI diesels, and the current one offered a 1.6 TDI only in its first years. Later cars are petrol, which avoids the additional IUC Portugal charges on diesel.

Question 3

What should I check on an older SEAT Ibiza 1.2 TSI?

Accepted Answer

Early 1.2 TSI engines used a timing chain that could stretch, later replaced by a belt. A rattle on a cold start is a warning sign, and the service record should show whether the chain was renewed.

Question 4

Is the Ibiza FR a separate engine?

Accepted Answer

FR is a sportier trim with its own styling and firmer suspension, available with several TSI engines. On the current generation it was also offered with the 1.5 TSI.
