How many gears does the Renault Mégane manual gearbox have?

It depends on the engine: entry versions use a five-speed box and the more powerful dCi and TCe engines have six. The Mégane RS also uses a six-speed manual.

What clutch problems does the Renault Mégane diesel have?

On Mégane dCi models with a dual-mass flywheel, wear shows as judder when pulling away and knocking at idle. Replacing the clutch and flywheel together is an expensive job, so ask whether it has been done.

Is a manual Renault Mégane more economical than the automatic?

The difference is usually small, as the EDC dual-clutch gearbox returns figures close to the manual's. The manual is mechanically simpler and cheaper to maintain over the long run.
