Which petrol engine is best in a used Renault Clio?

The 1.0 TCe in the Clio V is the most balanced choice, with turbo pull and moderate consumption. The SCe without a turbo is simpler but feels slow outside town.

Does the Renault Clio 1.2 TCe burn oil?

Some 1.2 TCe engines from the mid-2010s became known for excessive oil consumption. On a Clio IV with that engine, ask whether the manufacturer's repair was done and check the oil level.

Is the EDC gearbox on a petrol Renault Clio reliable?

The EDC is a dual-clutch automatic that works well when maintained, but judder when pulling away is a sign of clutch wear. A test drive in slow traffic shows it best.
