Question 1

Which Cayenne pays the least IUC in Portugal?

Accepted Answer

For cars registered from July 2007, IUC is based on engine displacement and CO2 emissions, so the large petrol V8s pay the most. The E-Hybrid's low official CO2 figure brings its bill down noticeably. Cars registered before July 2007 fall under an older scale based on displacement and age.

Question 2

How much ISV does an imported Cayenne pay?

Accepted Answer

A Cayenne brought in from another EU country pays ISV when it is registered in Portugal, calculated from displacement and CO2 with a discount for the car's age. On a large engine this is a significant sum, so have it calculated before agreeing a price abroad. Plug-in hybrids meeting the electric range and emission thresholds pay a reduced rate.

Question 3

What should be checked on a used Cayenne?

Accepted Answer

Air suspension, where fitted, should keep the car level and raise and lower it without warnings. Brakes and tyres are large and expensive, so check how much wear is left. On an E-Hybrid, have the battery and charging system checked by a Porsche specialist.

Question 4

Is the Cayenne Coupé a different model?

Accepted Answer

The Coupé was added to the third generation and shares its engines and most equipment with the regular Cayenne, but has a lower, sloping roofline. It gives up some rear headroom and boot space for that shape.
