Question 1

Does the Peugeot 3008 come with four-wheel drive?

Accepted Answer

Only the plug-in Hybrid4, which adds an electric motor on the rear axle, drives all four wheels. Other versions are front-wheel drive; some second-generation cars have Grip Control, which adapts traction on mud or sand without driving the rear wheels.

Question 2

What should I check on a Peugeot 3008 with the 1.2 PureTech engine?

Accepted Answer

Its timing belt runs in engine oil and can wear early, shedding particles that block the oil pickup. Ask for proof that the belt was inspected or replaced on Peugeot's revised schedule, and that the correct oil was used.

Question 3

Is a diesel Peugeot 3008 still a sensible buy?

Accepted Answer

For long motorway distances the BlueHDi diesels are frugal, but their AdBlue system and particulate filter dislike a diet of short trips. A warning about the AdBlue system on the dashboard is a known fault and worth having diagnosed before buying.

Question 4

How do the first and second generations of the Peugeot 3008 differ?

Accepted Answer

The 2009 to 2016 3008 is a raised hatchback with an MPV-like cabin. The model launched in 2016 is a conventional SUV with the digital i-Cockpit dashboard, a more modern platform and, later, plug-in hybrid versions.
